When should my child first see the dentist?
Earlier than you think!
As a general rule, it is recommended that you take your child for their first dental visit 6 months after their first tooth appears. Getting your child comfortable in the dental environment is key to long term good oral health. You know what they say; prevention is better than cure! This is especially true for children's first set of teeth.
Make the dentist fun!
Seeing the dentist for the first time can be a fun and delightful experience. It is a milestone for both you and your child, you can have plenty photos (Selfies anyone?) and scrapbook about the experience. You will either have a lovely first memory or something to talk about at their 18th birthday party.
Your child's first dental visit at our clinic could be with our Oral Health Therapists who specialise in providing general dental treatment to children up until the age of 18. This first visit with us will include a ride in the chair, counting of teeth, education, a goodies bag and maybe a surprise present at the end!
Our team will take extra care to provide a positive and rewarding dental experience for your child. The Dental Project is passionate about establishing healthy dental habit's so children will be able to keep healthy teeth for life!
